Every now and then you have an opportunity to do something really special in a worship service that blends worship, evangelism, and patriotism. We had one of those rare experiences that our people will never forget. Russ Murphy led a fabulous time of celebration that included the most unique recognition of past and present military I have ever seen. I'll never forget listening as the men and women stood at the front of our worship center identifying themselves, their branch of service, and their locations of service. When Russ sang Welcome Home Soldier, the tears were freely flowing and the appreciation of those who currently serve in the military as well as those who previously served in the military was obvious from the prolonged standing ovation. Russ then shared in a simple, yet profound way, that one day each of us could hear God say, "welcome home faithful soldier" to us if we would come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. Russ Murphy and his team presented an incredible time of worship and encouragement at our Veteran’s Appreciation Day. More than 100 veterans came and our congregation was truly inspired as the veterans one by one were recognized for their unselfish service to our country.
